Trip Overview

Makalu Base Camp and Sherpani Pass Trail is an outstanding trek in the eastern region of Nepal which offers a combination of rich cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty and biological diversity. The trail takes you from the steamy lowlands of Tumlingtar on the Arun River, through one of the least frequented areas of Nepal, to the base camp of Makalu (8475m.). The trail follows the beautiful Barun River valley in the Makalu Barun National Park as well as crossing Shipton pass at (4,127m.) before arriving at Makalu Base Camp (5000m.).

From the last point of this trip offers beautiful views of the south face of Makalu, as well as Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse are truly regal and fantastic. The Arun valley is also home to rare species of various Birds. If trekker in good shape and has previous experience of trekking can make this fairly challenging trek anytime in March to May and September to early December in the year will be the good time to do this trip

Outline Trekking Itinerary: Spring & Autumn

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1,350m.), meet our staff and transfers to Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu free for issue the permit and preparation.
Day 03: Fly to Tumlingtar (900m.) 45 minutes then Jeep drive to Num (1,505m.).
Day 04: Trek from Num (1,050m.) to Seduwa (1,530m.).
Day 05: Seduwa (1,530m.) - Tashigoan (2,065m.)
Day 06: Tashigoan (2,065m.) - Kongma Danda (3,562m.)
Day 07: Rest and acclimatization day Kongma Danda (3,562m.)
Day 08: Kongma Danda (3,565m.) to Dobato (3,650m.) via Tutu-La,Shipton-La Pass (4,220m.)
Day 09: Dobato (3,650m.) - Yangle Kharka (3,610m.)
Day 10: Trek to Langmale Kharka (4,510m.)
Day 11: Trek to Makalu Base Camp (4,870m.)
Day 12: Exploration day specially view of mountains glacier.
Day 13: Makalu Base Camp (4,870m.) to Swiss Base Camp (5,150m.)
Day 14: Swiss Base Camp (5,150m.) to Sherpani Col Base Camp (5,688m.)
Day 15: Sherpani Col Base Camp (5,688m.) -  Sherpani Col Pass ( 6,110m.) - West Col (6,143m.)
Day 16: Trek from West Col to Honku Basin (5,500m.)
Day 17: Honku Basin (5,500m.) to Amphu Laptsa Base Camp (5,527m.)
Day 18: Rest day at Amphu Laptsa Base Camp (5,527m.)
Day 19: Amphu Laptsa Base Camp (5,527m.) - Chhukung (4,730m.) cross Amphu Laptsa Pass (5,845m.)
Day 20: Chhukung - Tengboche(3,867m.)
Day 21: Tengboche - Namche Bazar (3,440m.)
Day 22: Namche Bazar (3,440m.) - Lukla (2,800m.) overnight at Lodge.
Day 23: Fly to Kathmandu then transfer to Hotel.
Day 24: Kathmandu free.
Day 25: Last minute, transfer to airport for your onward journey.

Cost Includes

  • All land transportation by Car, Van, Hiace or reserve Bus. (Airport/Hotel/Airport & trekking pick up & drop).
  • 3 Night’s hotel accommodation in Kathmandu at Bed & Breakfast basis.
  • All three major meals B/L/D (provide continental food) & accommodation in tented camp (twin sharing North Face tent or, normal trekking tent, dining tent, toilet tent, Kitchen tent, staff tent and Kitchen utensil etc.).
  • One professional English speaking trekking guide/Sirdar, 1 Cook, Kitchen boys, necessary Sherpa & Porter.
